English and German summer courses take place in a real medieval hill castle overlooking the Lahn-Dill Highlands. Situated between historic towns like Giessen, Limburg, Marburg and Wetzlar, the small and safe village of Hohensolms is perfect for younger students. You will certainly feel like a real knight or a real lady during your day in Hohensolms as lessons and most of the activities take place in the medieval hall and in the courtyard of the castle.

    THE CAMPUS

    We are happy to welcome you to the historic castle of Hohensolms, situated just a 5 minute’s walk away from the village of Hohensolms. The castle has been welcoming young people from all over the world for many years.

    German students will also be present on campus. They will attend an English or French language course and participate in the programmed afternoon and evening activities.

    Lessons normally take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 12:30. The four morning lessons focus on the main areas of language learning: grammar and language work, reading and listening, communicative activities and speaking practice. The aim is to provide you with the vocabulary and grammar required for effective communication and particular attention is paid to improving speaking and listening skills.

    ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL PLAN

    Live and socialise with your fellow students from Germany and many different countries on campus! You will stay in a real medieval castle in spacious multi-bedded standard rooms (4-8 beds). Also the supervisors live in the Residence and they are there for you if you have any problems or questions. You will have full board accommodation that includes breakfast, warm lunch and cold dinner. All meals are taken in the dining hall of the castle. Vegetarian options offered daily. Vegan gluten-free and lactose-free food is available upon request. There is a launderette on campus and safe storage for valuables is available in the Office. The free laundry service is available for students staying more than one week.

    SUPERVISED ACTIVITY PROGRAMME

    Friendly staff members from countries such as England, Germany, France, Spain, Russia or other countries will run a fully supervised activity programme in the afternoons and evenings, 7 days a week. In the afternoon you can choose between several activities and in the evening you can take part in one of the amazing events. Please note that all activities take place in English and German.

    Your safety and welfare is the top priority: there is one supervisor responsible for 10 students between 8 and 12 years or one supervisor for 15 students between 13 and 15 years. The members of the team have been carefully selected for their responsible and caring attitude, for being fun-loving and outgoing. They are the people you can turn to at any time for assistance. Please note that you are not allowed to leave the campus without supervision and that the above-mentioned activity programme is also compulsory for you.
