The first post-pandemic UCAS conference for career consultants has taken place, and this will help students to navigate the difficult path of admission to British universities.
For those who are not familiar with the process, UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) – is a centralised application system for admission to UK universities, created in 1993. Every student who wants to study undergraduate or graduate programs here can submit only 5 applications, therefore, it is necessary to develop a strategy for admission correctly, taking into account many factors, in order to increase your chances and not be left without a place.
Thus, the service significantly simplifies the process of admission to educational institutions in the UK, saving time, money, and effort for students.
Within the framework of the 2-day conference, there was an opportunity to communicate with representatives of UCAS, hear firsthand about the plans to change the application system by 2026, as well as updates that will affect the next submission cycle in 2024.
There were several interesting sessions, one of them by representatives of the University of Cambridge about the admission and selection process for Oxbridge.
The conference was attended by representatives of the British Parliament, In particular – Lord Karan Bilimoria of Chelsea, Dr Suzanna Tomassi, Higher Education Specialist, UK Government Department for Business and Trade, who gave reports on the readiness of higher education institutions to accept up to 1 million foreign students!
YES, you heard that right. Currently, about 600,000 foreign students come to study at British universities. But the trend is only gaining momentum!
And, of course, the most interesting thing is that there were representatives of the most prestigious universities.
Including those in the world rankings, which are the dreams of the most ambitious students!
It was possible to talk to these representatives and ask many questions about their admission requirements.
Among the well-known names: London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UCL, Durham, Warwick, Lancaster, Exeter, Queen Mary and others.
In addition, it was possible to visit one of the campuses of prestigious universities, I chose UCL, I’ll tell you about it later.
