After a long break, meetings for agents with partner universities are back. Of course, this is a great joy, because I can’t even remember the last time I participated in such events. For the last two years I was only able to visit educational institutions alone, without the opportunity to network with colleagues.
A whole day was devoted to education in British universities, industry news and trends, as well as visa issues, and new opportunities for international students here in the UK.
Representatives of the University of Birkbeck were able to come to our meeting, together with others from
The University of Southampton, London South Bank University, Hull, Sunderland, UCLAN and Aston.
At the present time, the UK has already reached its maximum number of international student admissions. Previously, the government planned to attract 600,000 students by 2030, but it has already become clear that this figure was reached 10 years sooner. The main top 5 nationalities of students were from China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan and the United States.
I remember how many universities were worried about Brexit, because they were losing European students, for whom the cost of education was changing, and they could no longer pay like the British and take help from the state for their funding.
However, their place was quickly taken by other students, who have already filled the walls of British universities and the Treasury, because they pay much more than local students. All this, of course, gradually affects the overall competition for admission, which will only increase every year, taking into account the possibilities of further employment after graduation.
I am very glad that live communication has finally returned, because it is through the process of informal conversations that you can learn a lot of interesting things and exchange experiences, ideas, and make new acquaintances!
